Since upgrading to Explorer and outlook version six,I get mail appearing to arrive when none exists. The downloading mail icon appears saying one new message, and then the envelope icon remains for about 10 seconds and vanishes.I wondered if I was loosing mail so temporarily used another mail program without any problems, but would like to continue using outlook express. Not a huge issue for sure but annoying.

It's not some sort of anti-spam rejection thing, is it?

In Outlook Express 6 there is a security feature that I cannot recall off memory if this is ticked by default or not, try looking Tools>Options>Security>Then you have a couple of boxes, one is called Warn Me When Another Application tries and sends mail and the other is Do Not Allow Attachments or other something or other that may contain virus's to be downloaded. Remove the tick from this second one and see what happens. If it is ticked then what you are seeing might be messages that have contained attachments and have not been downloaded or have been deleted by OE6
