Hi,
Desktop is MMX - 350 Mhz, 192 MB RAM running on Windows 98.
I recently got a Presario 700 running AMD Duron 800 Mhz,128MB RAM on Windows XP.
I need to hook up both the computers and havent the foggiest. Advised and bought a USB data transfer cable. Dont have any instructions and cannot work around this prob. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Patrick

http://www.practicallynetworked.com/ should have enough info on how to do that.

if your laptop has a lan card why not get a lan card for the desk top. a 10/100Mb/s lan would be a whole lot faster than a usb set up.

Thanks for the tip. Have been recommended and purcahsed a USB Bridge (just a cable to plug between both the computers). Any ideas how to install? Sorry for being a pain!
Thanks again

When you purchased the cable you should have also received some software or drivers to use it. Using the USB cable it is possible to network the two computers.

USB Bridge drivers can be downloaded from
ftp://ftp.lpt.com/parallel/USB-USB_Network_Bridge_1.6.0.0.exe

This setup program will step you through the process and install the necessary drivers. After the drivers have been installed and the computer rebooted, you should be able to access the other computer through network neighbour hood.

For an introduction to USB networking try (it has step by step instructions and lots of screen shots)
