About 4 years ago I brought a P.C Direct Computer with a P166+ processor
the only change I have made is to install windows 98 and increase ram to 64mb.
I have tried to install a u.s.b. port but the computer wont reqoninse it. I have been told that I
need to upgrade the bios? at present the Bios is v4.51g. To what do I need to upgrade, and
from where do I do it? can you help?

the manufacter of your computer will be able to advise you if there is update for your bios. www.pcmech.pair.com has an excellent article on the bios and what is required to update or change it.

good luck

Well your PC Manufacturer won't be able to help you out since they no longer exist.

But yea on boot up it should say. And if it's only showing you a screen with your vendors name you'll have to enter your bios to see if you can find any information on your bios.

I also think you can download the Bios Detect Agent from Award though this may only work for Award & Phoenix bios
