Some time ago a clever guy here developed a program for testing your internet connection when things go wrong. It did quite a few tests to see if the fault was with your setup or your ISP.
Could some kind soul please post the download link? I have been searching the forum without any luck.

Thanks,
B

Orcon wrote something like that, but unfortunately it's not quite that black and white.

If you're having issues, post what you're experiencing here. Alternatively, you can start with some of the suggestions in my sig :)

You might try WinMTR, Appnor's free network diagnostic tool. It combines tracert and ping.

http://winmtr.net

You'll need to pick a host; I'd try www.trademe.co.nz

I'm with kingdragonfly: To test connectivity, use WinMTR
The last hop it gets to is the last one that works. If the last one it gets to is your router, your internets down
If the last hop it gets to is trademe, then it's all working
If it doesn't go anywhere, then you're not connected to your wireless
If trademe.co.nz doesn't work, but 8.8.4.4 does, then your DNS is buggered and you can harass your ISP.

Done! :D

Thanks PPp. I was able to find it once you gave me the name.
