View Full Version : date inserted some time ago updates to current date - how to prevent?

I've noticed that dates I've inserted (using Alt+Shift D) in recent weeks/months update to today's date whenever I open a document containing such dates. This is very annoying, as I want the inserted dates to remain as they were when I inserted them! I have not checked the Update Automatically box in Insert > Date & Time window. This never used to happen before I started using a template where the user fills in a form - is this the problem (and if it is, how can I get around it while retaining the form template)?

Could be because its a template.

Have you tried Selecting the date, right click, check "Preserve date".

When you select a date inserted that way and go look at it's properties it says "today's date" so maybe it will always reflect the current date. Maybe you just need to type the date in rather than use a keyboard shortcut. Curiously if you click the insert tab and click date and time it seems to do it differently, try that.
