Can I add say a stick of 256MB
SDram to it,or do I have to remove old ram?
I am new to this sort of stuff

It's a good idea to ferret out your motherboard manual and have a look in there for what you need. It should tell you what to use and what your maximum ram limit is. Depending on what you've got you may be able to leave your original memory stick in place, but then again you might not. Check the manual first.

Your current stuff will be SD-RAM (because its a recent model).
