Hi colleagues F1-arians, I need a new modem (or pre-loved one). My requirements are for a good all round modem that has solid wired and wireless quality.

Ideas?

Or a wireless range extender?

I apologise for posting this twice, here and in pressf1 sections, but there seems to be no interest on the 'other' side :o

I either need a new modem or a wireless range extender. My requirements are for a good all round modem that has solid wired and wireless quality.

My current modem (lynksis) is fairly solid with wired connection though quite weak on the wireless side of things and does not spread throughout the house.

Any advice?

I get from the router (Down the far end of my house), right the way through two three closed wooden doors and one wall, all the way through my home and to the end of our driveway (Total 40m?) with this:

True CS, however I saw other threads getting answers and views on mine were around 64 with no answer, so I thought maybe the topic was more suited for this side. ;)

Sorry bud, I am a neofite on these things. Do I get this gargoyle is just a firmware update for my existing modem? That would be too good to be true, so I guess I did not understand the post.

Now that you're in the chat forum, I can offer you the free modem I posted in an earlier thread (July 2012) It's still available

(I note the word 'solid' in your post)

Not your existing one, you have to have a few specific types.

You would want a Draytek DV120 for the modem, then the TP-Link TL-WR1043ND for the router / wireless.

Any advice?Yeah, posting in both forums does not get you more attention. It is more likely to cause annoyance when someone repeats advice already given.

Threads merged. ;)

I think I am going to get one of them Linksys Re1000 extenders in the end. Any thoughts on these or feedback?

Cheers

At the risk of just replying to myself I want to put a piece of feedback on these Linksys RE1000. I have bought it, installed it and plugged it into a socket in the middle of the house. Considering my entry level linksys wag120n router resides in the outside office, about 15 metres from the house, and has at best a weak signal at the very near side of the house, I am impressed.

I get full bars reception throughout most of the house (average 3 bedroom house), with one bar loss at the very far end.

Simple, cost effective solution.
