That's no excuse not to have an up-to-date backup anyway!

But still, at least people will have backups! Then again, who would back up on a flash drive? Couldn't even back up my Word docs onto a 4gb drive :p

There was a certain amount of truth to the Y2K though. It was largely averted through a lot of programming.

Hilarious.

People should backup every week, regardless of nutter claims of planetary influence on the internet.

What if I told you, you can get flash drives bigger than 4GB?

There was a certain amount of truth to the Y2K though. It was largely averted through a lot of programming. That's true because people did test beforehand, and put in fixes to make sure nothing big would happen, but the media blew it all up and played on it.
There was a lot of people making a lot of money that night.

Right at the moment, the only negative thing thats happened today was the bowl on the blender got a chip out of it this morning, and that's nothing to do with the date. :)

My dad, who was a COBOL programmer among other things, made a MINT out of Y2K (banks, airlines), then retired...

There was one business I dealt with and I told him all he had to do on the Y2K turnover was to set the bios clock but someone else came along and told him he needed a new PC so he bought one when he didn't need to.
So yeah a lot of people made a lot of money on the hype from the news media and a lot of people didn't really know what they were talking about when it came to it.

I seem to remember Cobol was one of the worst culprits.

However I did not say how big or what kind of disaster... however if I'm right people will be begging me to predict more to prevent disasters... Zzzz

Rubbish... I missed the 12/12/12 12:12 back up time :( what a shame my workload is still here safe and sound....

There's a pub in New Lynn, Auckland. I've been to twice, due to go there again in January.

The first time I was in there, I heard about Sir Edmund Hillary dying.
The second time I was in there, the deadly Christchurch Earthquake.

Any bets on what's going to happen this time?
