Just met two Vista machines in one office that got fixed with the temporary DNS change.

But there looks to be another solution as well.

See here (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-windows_update/error-code-8024402f/707e7d53-95a4-4677-9310-b53d50acae48?page=1)

Look for John 798's ideas.

Do exactly the opposite what is logical - Do that most days, so nothing new there LOL :D

MURPHIES LAW THOUGH ILLOGICAL as per NORMAL IS ACTUALLY THE MOST LOGICAL SOLUTION OF ALL.

I fixed six computers, five Win 7 and one Vista just a couple of weeks ago by changing to Google dns settings on IPv4, temporarily. That really worked, after I had tried all other "fixes" from MS that did not work. I just checked them all again today and they are all good as gold.

@LL. Yes, I have been through the MS long list, too! Really annoyed with myself as I should have been onto the DNS switcheroo. Actually, one of my fixes responded to Method 8, so there are variations out there. The giveaway for the DNS thingy is error 8024402F, though.

@WT. Glad I made your day!! Techs sure live in a world of uncertainty!!
