Just wondering since I'm trying to chuck a few vids onto my galaxy mini for entertainment. Only a couple play obviously due to the video codec used (audio is fine), and one of the players from the store was stuttery, froze and crashed 3 seconds in.

So I figured I'd better downsize and re encode them before putting them on instead. Any free converters out there able to do this?

Freemake video converter might work

Coz the CPU / GPU on those things are a bit low-powered.
Convert it to some sort of 320x240 XviD with MP3 audio in an MP4 container, and you should be fine.

Handbrake should be able to do this hassle-free.

XviD is basically DivX, they're both MPEG-4 Part 2 (I think) / ASP. It's just XviD is open source, more actively developed, slightly better quality, available on more platforms, and free.

Decoders for them are interchangeable though.
