Hello Friends,
I have a 17inch Dell XPS laptop. I just upgraded from Windows7 to Windows8, everything works well but I have noticed that now my screen keeps flickering, this only happens when I run the laptop on battery (mains not connected). As soon as I connect the mains power supply the flickering stops. Could anyone advice why this happens and how can I stop this from happening..?? I have checked the monitor refresh rate and it is at 60 Hertz (have nothing more than that). Also I'm running on the recommended resolution of 1920 X 1080.
This never used to happen in Windows7.
All help will be much appreciated.
Thanks and Regards.
Aspi.

Flickering is random brightness change (like a candle sort of thing) or more of a deliberate dark/bright change. Rather are the graphics displayed flickering? Check for drivers would be my first step since you are using a new OS.

Hi Speedy,
Thank you very much for the link that you sent. It helped and the problem has now been resolved after I reset the settings as described in one of the links.
However I have yet another issue now. My Laptop is not recognising my Webcam when I log into Skype for video chatting. This used to work very well earlier. Can you suggest something.
Thanks and Regards.

Cool! Umm look in device manager for the webcam entry. Dbl click on it. What does it it say?? Any error / error codes?? This is an onboard cam?? Some laptop cams can be blocked by firewalls like Kaspersky / bitdefender. Bitdefender isn't installed is it??
