Home network - Router: 192.168.1.1 (default gateway)

Home Group: FERN

PC #1 : 192.168.1.4 (Win 7) - connected via wireless
PC #2 : 192.168.1.6 (Windows 8)
PC #3 : 192.168.1.8 (Win 7)

PC # 2 (Windows 8) can communicate with PC #1 & PC #3 without any issues.

But, PC #1 & PC #3 cannot 'see' PC #2 (Windows 8)

They, (PC #1 & PC #3) can communicate with each other without any issues.

In short, Win 7 PCs cannot communicate with Windows 8 PC

This home network was working perfectly fine before PC#2 was upgraded (downgraded?) to Windows 8

Need help from Windows 8 experts.

Thanks

Are you using Homegroup for Win7 and 8?? Or have you disabled it? And have you shared a folder in Win8?

Yes, my W8 set the network to Homegroup by default.

After some fiddling, restarting, etc., somehow, it's all working. Don't ask me how I did it, I don't really know.

Just find that Win8 is weird - recalling those Vista days.

Don't really know how long can I hang on to Win8!

Windows 8 networking is the same as Windows 7.

Just a few things to check.

Obviously the folder is shared to start with ( I use Everyone/Read Write) :)

Make sure password protected sharing is disabled in the advanced network & Sharing settings ( from in the Control Panel)

And heres the "got ya" that pays to be done other wise it can and does give problems, and the shared folders cant bee seen:

Under the Advanced shared options of the folder. Make sure its shared and permissions given, other wise sometimes the share wont show as a network share.

True - no difference from W7.
