I go gamefishing in summer and I'd like to get map updates from a service that gives info on sea temps, chlorphyll and other data that help locate fish.
How can I do this?
Do I need a laptop with a T-stick? Am I limited to very close to shore? Some of the areas off North Cape have very limited phone coverage so data would be worse??
Can an Android tablet with no 3g card use a plug-in to enable wireless?

Yeah you can turn your laptop into a Hotspot with software such as Connectify.

Alternatively if you have an Android cellphone, you can turn it into a Hotspot and share your 3G via WiFi from that :)

I have an Android Tablet that doesn't have 3g installed - don't have a smart phone - can I get a device that takes a sim card to receive data?

Sure, a cheapo android phone will do that.

If you are looking for decent reception, a T-stick, Vodem or phone with an external antenna
connection and a good external antenna (yagi) are your best option.
