Win8's photo viewer doesn't allow me to do some basic editing like rotating, etc.

Is there any other built-in program in Win8 can perform better?

Cheers

Right mouse on a photo and select open with / choose default program, then select windows photo viewer instead. Or you can right mouse on a photo and right mouse, then select rotate left or right

Right-clicked a photo doesn't allow me rotate - it's greyed. The 'play slide show' function doesn't work, too.

It's really a downgrade ver of Win7.

Something funny there as mine allows rotate and slide show works as well.

There's no way it can compete with Picasa so this thing is pretty irrelevant to me.

If all else fails the venerable irfanview does all that and is free.

^^ Just what I was gonna suggest, Irfanview is *fantastic*!

Picasa's improved "out of sight", now. As well.

Although photographers are generally a bit sceptical. But for basic tweaks - it's fine.

I just had a play with Irfanview. Tweaked some raw images I took yesterday. It's pretty good.

Yes a very good program and I am happy to say it works well under Wine.
