Anything is fixable if you are prepaired to throw enough money at it.
Even Cathedrals.

Thing is not only was it "stomped on by an islander", it was also left out in the rain and wasn't even worth anything as parts...

Do you mean the laptop or the Cathedral.

Pffft. That is an easy fix!

Just needs a brand new everything, and they're available all over town.

If the main chassis excl. the screen is sorta ok, could keep that. Replace the mainboard, HD, DVD. Grab a identical screen replacement on eBay with the chassis together and connect it back on ... a bit of duct tape where else required. A new keyboard and some Mini PCI cards like the sound, wifi and network. Install a OS on it ...

The laptop of course... :illogical

in short no its not considered usefulyl fixable when everything needs to be replaced as it would be cheaper and have a better result to buy a new one.

A bit of duct tape and a bit of imaginative thinking will be able to fix it.

Maybe do this?

Maybe do this? Tried to get it to boot with an external monitor, but it wouldn't even do that. :p

Motherboard would likely be useful for parts at the component level, even after rain.

Possibly the CPU is still OK, protected by the heatsink etc. Heatsink should likely still be usable, and maybe the screws that hold it on.

Aside from that... it's FUBAR.

Well, Vista is the not boot part. The physical damage is what happens when the owner realizes what Vista has done :p

I always said Win7 is just the Vista pig with lipstick and you know what?...... My original comment still seems valid to me! :p

Everything is fiaxable, including the boys car he crashed yesterday, what it comes down to is cost. Will it cost more to fix than it's worth or more than a replacement. That laptop would fall into the last category as does the boys car, simply not cost affective

Like I said, rebuild it from the heatsink up ;)

HP mini? If so It can bake itself to death... well the old ones that shipped with XP can. Seen two of them literally fall apart. Same result was achieved without the islander :D
