I have a new computer with W7 - now I am using Windows Live Mail which I am less than impressed with.... any suggestions for other email programmes please?

I was happy with Outlook Express - pity Microsoft has to keep changing things - if it aint broke, don't fix it...

There's Thunderbird, or the email program Vista uses. But you have to do a few hacks to get it to work. Or Outlook, if you have Office

I faced the same delema when I went to win7.

Would have to have improved a lot since I had to help someone years ago with it. Would never recommended it to someone then.

I downloaded DreamMail onto my laptop which is running on Windows 8 just to try it out. It is similar to MS Outlook but you are limited to American English. The contrast was not good. They use yellow writing on a white background in the dialogue boxes which was almost impossible to read. You can however change the skins to partially correct this problem. Read here (http://email.about.com/od/windowsemailclients/gr/dreammail.htm)also.

That is just insane. I have struck a few web sites using that colour scheme and they loose me straight away. As well as that they should be using the defaults you have set up rather than being smart arses.

I use 'Free Agent', have done since Windows 95. It runs independently of Widows. You just copy it into a folder if you need another account.

Please explain that and supply a link because the only FreeAgent I found was accounting software.

Forte FreeAgent was discontinued in 2006 (http://www.forteinc.com/agent/faq.php#B213D649E11C2B26852571C000109992). They only sell the commercial version Forte Agent now

Can you still import from Outlook after the trial has expired? I know it can't import the data files directly. In fact, Thunderbird is pretty bad at importing mail & contacts.

I have set up thunderbird with the outlook 2003 skin for a few people who didn't like Live Mail & they have told me it is an improvement, but they would still go back to Outlook Express if they could.

Have you considered creating a gmail account, importing your mail & contacts & setting it up to automatically download email from your old account?

eM Client is great. I have been using it for a year and I recommend it to Outlook users. It is very easy to use, and I havenít had any issues on Windows 7.

I am using 3.0.10206 free version. I like it because it has a nice interface and it syncs with my Gmail. I migrate easily everything from my Outlook
