Pretty boring I thought, and they all jabbered so fast about things, how could anyone get any real information from it.

3 out of 10 from me.

Nothing that most of us already know. Yes it was boring but I watched it just too see how guilable people are.

I don't disagree with any of the comments on the forum BUT you have to take into account most ,if not all, members of this forum are tech savvy to some extent.
There are a lot of TV viewers and modest users of the internet wouldn't be fully aware of the dangers of allowing strangers access to their computer. I kow that sounds incredible to PC World Chat members but it's true and at least Fair Go did cover that fairly well

The bits I noticed (missed the first half) was make a free website.
Except they paid $100.
Fail.

Then, how do you tell if it's real?
Well...they're all real...they mean legit shops.

They had two idiots decide on "realness" by 1)Terms shown 2)How many menus the site had

Then the experts didn't really have a way to tell "realness"

Well, could have mentioned doing a WHOIS and then checking Companies Register. Yes, that's not perfect either but it's a start.....
They also said .co.nz can be registered from overseas.
Yeah probably, although we do checks if it comes from an overseas IP before we process the order.

I dunno, Fair Go used to be good once.

The Fair Go programme made it seem very dicey to shop on the web. Yes it can be because there are a lot of fly by nighters out there. It is very easy to set up a web page that offers all sorts of tempting goodies. Personally I stick to online shops that have been around for a while. The online shops that are honest and give customers a fair go are the ones that are more likely to stay in business long term. The ones that take your money and give you poor service, shoddy goods or fail to deliver the goods are not likely to be around for long.

The first thing that I look for is contact details that include street address, phone number and email address. They do not get my business if they do not have all three of these. Next step could be to use Google to search for comments which could be good or bad.

I bought a water blaster a while ago that seemed like too good a deal to be true. I did a search and found the guy also trade on TradeMe and had a very good feedback. It was about a third of the price of equivalent ones but I worked it out that if I got 13 uses from it it would have paid for itself. While I have had some problems with it but it certainly has paid for itself.
AS you say you only need to do some research.
