Not sure if this only affects Chch or all Telstra cable users, but if you have noticed it going slow recently, Telstra have changed their DNS.

Story has it that they were going to email their cable users, and didnt, now they arent going to bother and just wait and tell people as they complain about it. They are going to switch off their old DNS server at some stage and those still using the old DNS will get nothing until they modify them.

The new DNS are as follows.

203.97.78.43
203.97.78.44

So, if you have been experiencing some delays browsing lately, update your DNS in your router, it may just solve your problem.
Cheers.

Are you serious or have you been imbibing a bit too much?
I notice you posted this at 3 am.

These are the very DNSs that are in my router already and have been for several years now.

TCL has two sets of DNS servers - a pair from Paradise, and a pair from Clear.

I used to use the Paradise set (203.96.152.4 and .12) as I got better ping times to them (and also because that's what we were told to use by the TelstraClear installer), but have recently switched to the Clear ones (posted by Iantech) as I was getting weird timeouts and glitches in name resolution. Since switching over I've noticed my connection is a lot more stable, particularly for web browsing.

We, and many other telstra users are/were still on the old DNS 203.96.152.4, 203.96.152.12, have been for several years user by the telstra installer as somebody says. So maybe it just affects the older telstra users. Or maybe just chch has been using the paradise servers... I dont know. But anyway, they are going to switch off the old dns server at some stage in the very near future as I understand it, so anyone who has the old dns server addresses in their router, the new ones have been listed.

Dont think I added the DNS server ips in the router here anyway. It did it automatically, once i put the username and password in for TC

You're not on Cable.

On their Cable network, you have to manually configure your IP address, netmask, gateway, DNS servers etc.

In Wellington and using 203.96.152.4 & .12Has it been a bit "laggy" Peter? ie: you click on a link and it is slow to respond or doesnt respond at all, or you get the "page cannot be displayed" page sometimes. If it starts running like a hairy dog, hopefully updating your DNS will help.

No - quick as a flash. If I start having problems, I'll change DNS but not needed at the moment.
