It's so much better to be in the popular crowd and get hit with all the latest and most popular spyware, the unpopular ones are just so last year :lol::lol:

They are both the same.Malware is a makeup of the two words malicious software

They are not the same, read the link Wainui posted.
The principle difference I think is Virus's (Virii? ) are designed to self replicate and spread whereas malware generally needs human assistance to install - even if it's just clicking a link.

If I wrote a batch file called clickmeplease.bat that executed delete c:\*.* that would be malware. If I was smarter and wrote code to detect any inserted or networked drives and write a copy of itself onto them, that would be a virus.

Malware is a collective name for all of them.Thats what I am saying.
