Without a startup disk.

I tried putting Ubuntu in as a second OS but accidently wiped Vista off.

Am I able to restore Vista??

Compaq Presario V6000

THanks

A restore -- NO not if Ubuntu has wiped it out unless you have a backup of the whole OS/Programs on another drive someplace.

If not then a reinstall is in order - Two ways -- if it has a recovery partition you can reinstall it from that, Usually by tapping the F11 key on startup OR you may have to get hold of a Vista DVD and use the COA attached to the machine, then install all the drivers from HP's site.

Driver page if needed, select your actual model, V6000 is only the base (http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Lookup?h_lang=en&h_cc=ca&cc=ca&h_page=hpcom&lang=en&h_client=S-A-R311-1&h_query=v6000&submit.x=0&submit.y=0&aoid=35252)

Have you definitely overwritten Vista?
You may find it is still there, but you need to restore the boot sector to a Windows file system to see it.

Grub would of added an entry if that was the case.
