Trying to update to the latest version of Google Earth (6.1.0.5001) but cannot uninstall the old version (6.0.3.2197). I try with Windows 7s Programs and Features but get a note "Transform Package" so tried Revo Uninstaller, that gives me a note "This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists" I can download the latest version but when I try to install it says "cannot find file msige60". Any ideas.

Thanks Lurking, that's what I did & ran into this problem, can't uninstall or install program. Just tried reinstalling old version on top of itself & get "Error 1305 C;\user\xxx\app data\local\temp\msige60\Google Earth.msi. Verify that the file exists & that you can access it" I follow the string & there are two Google Earth files, one is "Windows installer Package" the other "Application". Clicking on either of them just gives me the same note as above, going round in circles.

Try this. Go into All Programs find the Google Earth Folder open it then right click on the uninstall icon then select at the top run as administrator.

You may have to delete its folder/s and entries in the registry to fix it. Look for google earth in the registry delete them. Then reboot, then try and install it again

Thanks Trev, I tried that but it only brings up the same note again. Speedy, I am not game enough to start deleting in the registry, I've got a good idea what will happen.

mm OK. Did you right mouse on that file and select run as admin as well?? Some people got it to install by doing this. Or get this install see if it works (http://dl.google.com/earth/client/advanced/current/GoogleEarthWin.exe)

Still no go Speedy even after trying the last two suggestions, do you think a Windows 7 reinstall would fix it.

That should fix it. It sounds like something is stuffed somewhere
