This morning there was a warning from government EXPERT about some spam going round that threatens to kill you unless you pay up.

The expert suggested that keeping your anti virus up to date would help.

I've been getting the offline version of that for years ... from the IRD.

Yes, but did your anti virus fix it?

My point was (always a bit tricky for some)the expert suggested that AV would fix problem.

Speedy Gonzales

Its a hoax (http://www.stuff.co.nz/technology/6469860/Death-threat-emails-clearly-a-hoax). Ignore it

It's a hoax but an antivirus program will not fix spam.

PeterQ

Of course an Anti-Virus program will not stop spam, BUT keeping your Anti-Virus updated is never a bad idea... Unless you have AVG... and then sometimes the updates nuke your system files! :lol:

Reminds me of the old cliche definition of expert

X = unkown quantity
Spurt = a drip under pressure

It's the equivalent of saying updating the security on your house will keep unwanted mail out of the letterbox.

Its about time that all the ISP's in the world got together and closed the account of scammers such as these.

I don't mind genuine spam offering genuine stuff, as long as their is an unsubscribe option.

SPAM kills you? How? Boredom from reading the same email?

Exactly, how do you do that?
