I am getting very slow internet, contacted ISP (Slingshot) they took me through a procedure that fixed problem, 15 mins later it was back to slow speed, rang them back, talked at length and they concluded from info that my Belkin modem was at fault, have had a few probs and thought I might take this opportunity to replace with one suggest by Chilling Silence some time ago, can't remember what his recommendation was??

I might add my current unit is a wireless Belkin.

Belkin are no good. Got one in my cupboard that doesn't work properly. Alright for a backup if my present one packs up until I get a new one.

Yeah I'd still stick with the NB6Plus4Wn for the time being, they're the best ADSL2+ router for home / small office by a long shot. Easy to setup, reliable.

One thing I've noticed though is that VDSL2 routers are *significantly* more expensive than ADSL2+... like between 2-4X more expensive!

I've never had much luck with any of the Belkins, except for the el-cheapo 1-port ones ... It seemed the more that Belkin added in to their routers, the less reliable they became :p

Thanks lads,
this is on way..........$166 can never resist a slightly better one.

Got new router........

When I get log inscreen, I put in user name and password, but it will not accept, can I assume that I am not putting in correct info, I am fairly sure it is correct!

Password: this is the password you selected when setting up your Slingshot account

The generic ADSL settings for New Zealand are as follows:

VPI should be 0
VCI should be 100

The Protocol needs to be PPPoA (PPP over ATM RFC 2364) with VC multiplexed encapsulation (VC-MUX).

Did the same thing around 6 months ago, ditched the Belkin because of drop outs especially in warm weather, took Chills advice and have not had a miss since.

Yeah true :(
Thankfully my parents didn't call me "Chilling_Silence", and most people are put off by the prospect of door-knocking saying "Hi, I'm looking for a mr chilling silence, he suggested a router to me but now it's a dud too". Can imagine the number of people who'd slam the door back in your face :p

Then again it's not like half the people here don't follow me on G+ already!
