JB seemed to have the best range I could find around. HN have some ok as well, but nothing decent around the $100 mark. I've just brought some AKG Q 460's, they are over $300 in NZ I got them for about $116 from ebay. Headphone prices are a joke in NZ.

hmmm...Those Skull Candy ones at JB HiFi put me off...I have no idea of their quality but it looks like gear for children, the only Sennheiser ones I saw on their site seemed to be the low end/junk end of the range, and the $130 sony units had terrible reviews and sell overseas for $30. Bearing in mind I'm looking at gear around the $100 mark.

Noel Leeming have some real nice looking gear at that price point, but its all on a 4 day order system, pointless shopping with the supermarket-level stores if they can't supply on the spot, thats the one and only benefit they have.

I guess you will be pretty much stuck with junk at that price range though.

I got some nice Shure earphones but double your budget for their entry level.

Good luck.

Certainly seems that way if I want something off the shelf.

I would be seriously looking at the Sennheiser hd449 or the HD239 if they held them as stock.

Done the rounds of the junk shops today, Noel leemings, Norman Ross, DSE, Bond+Bond.

What a load of over priced junk, I tried on a set of $425 headphones, they sounded like crap, For that amount of money I'd want liquid gold to flow through my ears. And f-f-s Beats by Dr Dre is not music. Its like watching a screen that only shows green, Lots of green.

I had intended to buy a pair but seeing them in the flesh put me off, I'd rather go without.
