HI All
Im looking for a windows gadget or small program that monitors internet traffic from a netbook
There is plenty of network ones but none that actually specific to wan traffic

Any ideas?

Cheers

Most fool-proof way is to do it from the router itself.

There are a few that you can specifically get to exclude LAN-data (Essential if you copy a lot of large files to / from your machine), but I can't remember any off the top of my head sorry.

It does WAN and as mentioned you can exclude the LAN traffic.

Nifty, might have to give it a whirl and see how it matches what my routers say :)

Does it have to be installed on every computer on the network?

Yes, so things like iPod Touches, Playstations etc, all don't get monitored. If that kind of level is needed, then custom router firmware such as Gargoyle is the *only* way to go.

It can monitor the complete router traffic as long as the router has SNMP, other wise you get the message below.

The answer (if you have the budget) is exinda, its simply awesome. It's a layer 2 box that sits between your wan/lan. In our case it sits between the internet and the lan/wan too and does edge cache/reporting.
