I have lost sound on my laptop!!!! and it is driving me crazy.:help:
the sound devices all appear to be working correctly, none of the volume controls appear to be muted, however it seems to me that there must be another control which I haven't found. Hey, it is Microsoft and it is Vista. I am not getting sound via the onboard speakers or the headphones but when I plug it into the TV I get sound via the HDMI cable.
Anyone got any ideas?

OK I now have sound via the headphones but none still from the onboard speakers.

Change the sound output under sounds in control panel. Its probably defaulted to HDMI if youre using it

Thanks Speedy, But no. Default is set as speakers. I am thinking that there is somewhere else that is either switched off or is defaulted the wrong way but I can't find it and all the devis=ces indicate they are working correctly. I will just have to use the phones in the meantime.

Dirt in, or broken switch on headphone socket (cuts off your onboard speakers when you plug headphones in).
