Just when I get a load of DVDs for Christmas a problem crops up.
I get a b&W pic..... no colour.
I've checked them on my laptop...OK.
I've used a cleaning disc in my player...prob. remains.
I've checked the settings....everything seems normal.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Are they Local or imported DVD's? If they are overseas NTSC ones such as from America the TV has to support NTSC to display them in colour, NZ region 4 uses the PAL colour system, USA region 1 uses NTSC and tends to come out black and white if sent to a PAL TV.

Most newer TVs are multi format capable, some may need to be manually set for PAL / NTSC.

I don't know if this is the problem, but it's one possibility. Dirty disks don't go black and white but thanks for the chuckle. :)

dugimodo suggestion sounds like the main cause .

Have you checked with a known good disk just in case a cable is not plugged in correctly or damaged..??

Good point, a bad cable connection could also be it. Particularly component I think it might be the one that uses one cable for the colour information (straining to remember cables are something like, Luminence, Chrominence, somethingelsinence)

Sorted, it was a video cable connection.
Thanks guys.
