yep - 9.0c is the newest version you can run on XP
I think it's now up to version 11.xx for Vista/7, but that 9.0c is the only one you can install for XP

... provided your hardware is supported by it that is ;) On top of that, why hinder yourself for another 2-3 years when it'll cost you bugger all to upgrade now?

Dont believe all read read about new unreleased Win versions. Its alot of marketing hype. Look at the debacle with Vista, & ME .
I bet Win8 will be a fizzer , just like Vista . At least no better than 7 .
XP is still fine btw . But new PC's are allways nice to get

There's an Article on here about how analysts don't think desktop uptake of windows 8 will be very high. They seem to think people will see no reason to upgrade, and businesses are never quick to change - my work still runs XP with IE6.

DX9c on XP
DX11 on 7
forget Vista exists, everyone else has.

You can still install DX9, in Win7. Even tho it has DX 11 You can use multiple monitors in most versions of Windows. Depending on the card youre using

Some members of this forum disagree with that :p

I think Vista is fine personally, but very similar to 7 which is better so it has no point.

Multiple monitors are supported by Windows XP too...

Your DirectX might say 9.0c but that won't guarantee it's up to date with all the little updates they released after that.

Best way to check if your DirectX is up to date is to download the updater from http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=35 and it will make sure you have the latest updates.

Or you can get the full package from here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=8109 that you can keep and install without needing an Internet connection.

windows 8 is a load of bollocks it is going to be designed for tablet like pcs like allin0ne pcs that have a keyboard and a touchscreen only no mouse

Only if you choose to have metro turned on.

Yeah I disagree, it's designed with them in mind, but not JUST for tablets and the likes. It's actually not bad once you get used to it, and for most people it'll be a nice simplification of how they work.

it will be yes but even without metro its quite horrible to use maybe because ive used loads of OSs in my lifetime but like exporer now looks too much u knw nd task manager has turned to rubbish

Isn't windows 8 getting the new task manager? I was under the impression it had barely changed since 98.

Yeah it has got a new one. Problem is, it's pretty weird.
