Hi All,
I have been trying to convert Tivo files to DVD format (or AVI would do) with absolutely no success. I have tried:
Direct Show Dump
Roxio (recommended by Tivo)
AVS
Video Redo
DIVex
All of these convert the video okay but all of them produce silent movies! I'm sure this is a codec issue as the files will play with sound when I use VLC, but once I have used any editor to edit them, the sound disappears.
Is anyone able to shed light on this issue?

Regards
andy

Try Windows movie maker, but you may need to install an Audio Codec. VLC uses it's own so that's why it works but most other software uses codecs installed on your system. The beauty of movie maker is that if media player can play it, it's very likely to work in movie maker also. When I was originally getting freeview working under windows XP I installed power DVD ultra in order to get the sound working.

As well as the codec issues when I tried using DVBViewer to record TV (in .TS form which is basically just the broadcast data recorded direct to hard drive) most software seemed to expect it to contain a different audio format to what freeview uses.
I abandoned my attempts about 18 months ago and assumed the software would catch up eventually.
