Trying to flash the BIOS of this MB which I downloaded from here (http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=A7V8X-MX+SE&p=1&s=10) but error says that:

"The program files's part number does not match with your system!"

I am pretty sure the correct files are downloaded.

No problem with this old board, just experimenting.

Tried 1007-001.bin and A7SE1006.bin witht he same error.

Can someone enlighten me on the above, please.

I wouldnt use 1007.001 since its a beta. It can be buggy. Did you use awdflash (the DOS tool)?? I wouldnt use asus update (and you can 't use ez-flash for 1006). According to the ASUS site.

Are you sure you have the A7V8X-MX SE?

Maybe Asus got it wrong on the download page. Open the BIOS in a BIOS editor and check the model numbers match.

(Edit: I just tried that in awdbedit (http://awdbedit.sourceforge.net/), it says:
BIOS Info: 09/24/2004-KM400(B)-8235-A7V8X-SE-00
BIOS ID:A7V8X-SE)

MIGHT be the wrong BIOS, but note that Asus sometimes also use the same BIOS for multiple boards, and the MX\SE designators for Asus often only refer to very small differences.

If it still won't program, force a flash with a better piece of software. Uniflash might work if the board isn't too new.

Might be a clever idea to dump a copy of the current BIOS and compare it against the ones you can download, to see if it matches.
