Hello Folks!

I've been trying to install the latest version of itunes on XP and not having much success. I only get so far before this particular message comes up:

Error writing to file: c:\Program files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\CFNetwork.resource\Fi.lproj\Localalizable. strin gs. Verify that you have access to that directory.

This is all a bit bewildering to me.

I uninstalled everything to do with Apple from my computer several times and tried re-installing itunes only to encountered the same problem.

I would very much appreciate any help anyone could extend to me to overcome this problem. I miss itunes already!

Thanks,
Agoge

Have you tried deleting that particular file? That file may be locked, try using this

Have you actually uninstalled the program/s, or just deleted stuff? Maybe this will help (expand the Steps)

You could try this too

Thanks. I'll give those things a try and report back.

Another thing you can try. Install a zip program (like izarc) and right click the itunes install file. Extract it. It's actually all the install files compressed. Install each file individually.

Downloaded izarc, extracted itunes files, and encountered same problem almost immediately.

Nothing recommended has worked so far.

Thanks, though, guys.

Are you installing it as admin not as a guest? Is the install file on the hdd youre installing it on?? Or is the install file on another computer?

As a guest, Speedy.
I thoroughly deleted any itunes files from off of my hard drive each time before attempting to down load it again. It's very frustrating as I am a big podcast fan.
Should I attempt to down load again as admin?

Abundant thanks.

Install it as admin. as Speedy indicated that is a likely cause of your problem.

'Administration' won't let me connect to the web!

Any advice?

Cheers.

Maybe Spybot resident protection, if present, or similar preventing installation.
