Dont use registry cleaners. Some can kill a system. And delete valid entries

I have been using 'Crap Cleaner' for years and never known it go wrong. It encourages you to back up the registry first, but I have never had to use a backup.

One thing that I have never had to try -- even though you can make a backup of the reg with Ccleaner first -- what happens if on reboot the computer wont boot because of the entries being removed -- How do you run the backup if you cant get into the system ?

Better off making a restore point within windows, at least you can boot from the recovery CD and run system restore.:2cents:

For paranoia's sake I uncheck all the reg settings in CC.

Years ago I had a reg cleaner wipeout a whole bunch of printer entries all because the printer was turned off at the time. Luckily I restored it with the backup.

-1 for Auslogics because it caused my OS to become unbootable the first it was used.

+1 for Ccleaner because it has never failed me in years of use.

I see RegCure is not detected by several anti-virus apps. I wouldn't recommend using any registry cleaner, not even CCleaner.

used cc reg clean option for years
never had it cause a single problem
never heard of it causing one either - have you?

Many of these reg cleaners get installed by stealth, or add-on to another programs installer.
Many people dont even know they have been installed on the PC

Wouldnt that be enough reason to be suspicious of them
A bit the the RAM defrag proggies a few years back: a scam to get your $$

a banana for you, reg cleaner :banana :banana
