View Full Version : New Router

Our old router passed away last night so I got my partner to order in a Netcomm NB6Plus4Wn from PB.I've heard on here they're quite good.
They asked her why she wanted one of those,we have better ones than that for half the price. The Netcomm was $160.
The Netcomm's are still the best bang for buck aren't they?
This is the same guy that told me USB 2 is better than USB 3.Now I have 2 super slow external hard drives.

The netcomms are OK -- THIS THREAD (http://pressf1.pcworld.co.nz/showthread.php?120842-Is-this-going-to-be-a-good-deal) may be of interest if you are about between 7-8pm tonight.

would it be better than my old Linksys WAG200G? I could still cancel the order.

Never actually owned a Linksys WAG200G, set a few up and they seemed OK. Same with the One at DSE - only ever supplied and set up one, and that was fine, (I use other Netgear modems/routers, as many people want cheaper without features)but I cant compare them performance wise as I dont have ADSL.

As per the other Post, I have the Netgear N300 Cable version and it works great, only ever had one problem with it , someone  (cough cough)forgot the changed password durhhh -- not a fault of the router.

All I can go on is the product Specs Tab (http://www.netgear.co.nz/home/products/wirelessrouters/work-and-play/DGN2200.aspx)

Why are you even considering listening to that person?

Ended up getting the Netcomm, was expecting to wait 3 or 4 days for it to arrive but it's there today which is quite quick for them.
My only other option is PC Gear.I'm seriously thinking about using Computer Lounge or Ascent in the future.

In any case, enjoy your new awesome router. I'm enjoying mine.

I've only ever had one issue with it and it required a swap of ethernet ports and a power cycle and voila. Still not sure what caused it but all good :)

Don't get anything Linksys that is both ADSL and Wireless. They're top notch when they do them on their own (the Linksys AM300 and WRT54GL are excellent examples) but for some reason pretty much all the Linksys gear that is both ADSL and Wireless in one is horrible.

You made the right choice :-)
