View Full Version : Synchronising audio with video

Using Handbrake to convert movie files to mp4 and result is played back via usb flash drive on a PVR. Good quality video and audio results but the audio is a second or so before the video. What particular settings affect the rendering of the audio or video that could help to synchronise the video and sound?

The freeware VirtualDub is very good for adjusting audio delay. But you need to have your source file in the avi container (eg Xvid + mp3). It allows you to adjust the audio delay either positively or negatively without re-encoding ie, keeping the original xvid + mp3. So it is quick. I think Virtualdub can do mp4 as well as avi but I couldn't get it to work

Personally I would use the freeware Xmedia Recode to give me a high quality avi file then feed it through VirtualDub. Xmedia Recode does not have a setting for audio delay
