Was using my phone fine today. Sat it down, came back an hour or so later and it won't turn on at all. Nothing. Not even with the charger. Anyone got any advice?

Cheers

Take it back if it's new

Try removing and replacing battery.

Tried that, phone won't go into recovery, download mode or anything.

Take it back if it's new

Bought from MobiCity, I have to send it to Auckland.

1.Press and hold down Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time.
2.Release all buttons when you see SGS2 Logo.

That's recovery mode... Does the computer recognize it?

Taken from another forum (Factory Reset):

1. press and hold "volume up"
2. press and hold "Home button"
3. press and hold "power button"
4. if Samsung logo shows up, let go "power button"
5. if a menü with red colour show up, let the 2 button go.
6. choose wipe factory data reset.
7. go back and reboot.

Found that on google, I tried holding the Vol Up + Home + Power button for a good 45sec. Nothing.

Remove battery for 5 mins. (Also form other forum) It can't really die just like that. May be faulty.

Pull the sim card out, plug it in to charger, and try turning it on.

These are the likely faults:

1) Battery dead

2) Boot loader broken.

3) Motherboard dead/dead circuit.

What exactly were you doing before it died? Is it on a custom firmware/bootloader?

Nothing out of the ordinary. Running a custom rom which has been working fine since I got the phone. I hadn't done anything out of the ordinary. Just picked it up and it wouldn't turn on.

Try another battery, or send it back.

Looks like I'll have to send it back. Hopefully it is still covered because they won't be able to tell that it's rooted because it uh err won't turn on.

I sent my jailbroken ipod touch that died to apple, they never noticed and replaced it.

Also try a USB jig. It might force the phone into recovery, so you can reflash.

Any idea where I could get a jig from?

Yep, just not 100% sure because the phone is not turning on at all. But definitely worth a shot.

Brilliant, cheers for that. Hopefully that arrives in the next few days. Won't hurt to have one lying around anyway.
