Hi Everyone,
I need to purchase a new laptop for grad school. Mine is very old.
Can you please let me know what I should consider regarding, brand, processor, and any other considerations?
I generally only use if for conducting searches and using Microsoft products (i.e., Word, Excel, and PPT); however, I also like to play around in Adobe Photoshop.
Here is a link to a store near me that sells laptops. http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/category/15-laptops/25315.aspx?path=69d9a21bde9e431e730fa2578befaed5en 01 I would like to ideally spend less than $450; however, if spending a little bit more will get me a much more reliable laptop, then I would consider it.
Cheers,
Kristina

You realise that most of these are refurbished right?
The Asus is slower but would probably be more reliable than the MSi one. Note: the MSi one comes with Norton AV installed, if you get it remove Norton ASAP (it sucks really badly).

Thanks for the suggestions. I should have specified that I would prefer to stay away from refurbished. I know I cannot get a lot for this price range, but I just want the one that is going to last the longest and perform adequately for my basic needs. :)

The Acer one is similarly spec'd to the Asus one i suggested. The 2nd Gateway one will be the most powerful. However I have no idea what the quality of Gateway computers would be like (I have never used one).
