Hi Richard I used to use FF a long time ago when it was really the only alternative to IE that I knew then I switched to Chrome, I have downloaded FF a couple of times over the last few months to have a look and ended up going back to Chrome.

I am not really passionate one way or the other but I am curious as to why people persist with a browser that they have issues with, and the ever changing versions of FF as it slowly looks more and more like Chrome but with more problems is one example.

ps as I said I dont really have a view one way or the other so this is not a criticism question, Chrome I just find easy so it suits me especially just the one txt entry point of URL's or search.

cheers George

Go to FF8 beta (Arora). Way better than FF6 and 7

This is the problem, which seems to be quite common among FF6 users. Any suggestions welcome.

It is really strange.

Millions of people are using FF 6.00 with no problems but quite a few of us have problems with it.

My Problem is the slowness and the "Not Responding" problem which has hundreds of posts on the Mozilla forums, but no real definitive fixes, just a whole lot of try this or try that.

v6.0.1 running fine here.

I don't use beta software unless there's a good reason to, or I desperately want to test it.

I still say that Firefox need to come up with a list of definitive fixes for this "Not Responding" problem which seems to have been around for years.

Otherwise it just forces people like me to try another browsers, or completely uninstall it (profiles as well) and try again.

Or I may just build a new machine, as I seem to have to do about once a year.

Its just been updated again to 6.02. Probably because of these forged certificates

So far the FF7.0 beta is performing OK. Still occasionally get the 'not responding' problem, but nowhere near as often as with FF6.1. Fingers crossed that Mozilla are aware that a lot of users are not happy and are working on a fix.

If I get 'Not responding' in Firefox it's either because I did something stupid, or it's trying to load a web-page that's so badly written (or a piece of junk) and it goes crazy.

Probably not what's happening for you guys though...
