View Full Version : Won't stay in hibernation

Second desktop computer running XP won't now stay in hibernation. Over the last 10 days it has started waking up of its own accord - after 50 minutes each time. Nothing has changed except a new router is delivering the broadband connection. Any ideas please?

Have a look in bios and see if it is set to wakeup on an event

How would I do that?

Go into the BIOS and see if the option is there under one of the menus

Reboot and press the del key. Or it maybe the F1 or F2 key

bios has no reference to hibernation in any of the menus. Looking back on an old thread one poster made the statement that a router could wake from hibernation. As I said at the start I have a new router - is it feasible that it could be doing it? And at exactly 50 minutes after hibernation every time? Any other ideas please?

Thanks Clive and Speedy - with help finally struggled through to Power Management. My Computer-Manage-Device Manager-Network Adapters-Properties-Power Management and unticked "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby". All fixed, ending the frustration!

bios has no reference to hibernation in any of the menus.

Not specifically. It says things like Wake on LAN, Wake on Ring and so on.........
