Although you have a reasonable amount of ram, it sounds as though you may be using memory hungry programs. Check the size of your swap file, and the settings for it in Virtual Memory, it's just possible that it has an upper limit that is too small.
Cheers

I had a similair problem though this it turns out was caused by a faulty motherboard. I had the kernell32 problem happen a few times since so have stopped about half the 'very neat but unneeded' programs O was running continuously and am also running norton utilities which I got as a 30 day trial pack. Hey presto the problem is gone and my computer runs quicker. One word on norton though. Unless you have a ton of ram don't run system doctor. I found this can chew memory when you have big programs running but use everything else. It fixes problems that I have no idea about, just always choose the norton recommended fix and enjoy.
