View Full Version : Processor speed dramatically decreased

I believe (from a lot of research) due to a low battery resetting the BIOS.
My processor is a AMD Turion X2 RM-72 2.1GHz

I used CPU-Z and its currently running at:
Core Speed: 525.0 MHz
Multiplier: x 2.63
Bus Speed: 200.00 MHz

This gives it a 526 MHz speed, right?

Do I just need to increase the multiplier through the BIOS to bump it back up to 2.1 GHz or am I completely wrong?

You seem to have diagnosed your own problem.

Try setting the multiplier to x4 and you should get 2.1GHz

Can't comment on what your bus speed should be.

have you checked cpu-z while you are running something processor intensive?, I would have thought this was just the cpu clocking down to save power when it's not needed, I know intel calls it speed step but I'm not sure what the equivalent amd tech is called.

I think its called CoolnQuiet on AMD CPU's.

Disable it in the BIOS

If it's a HP or Dell etc , you won't be able to disable it in the bios.
