View Full Version : Add Block

One of my web sites has a search engine which is free, but displays two small adverts in lieu. For US$345.00 per annum they will remove the adverts.

Thing is, 'Add Block' in Firefox, IE9 and Chrome block the adverts.

Question is, what % of browsers have Add Bock etc installed?

None of them do, unless you install a program / addon. Or use something like track protection in IE9. Which may or may not work

I should have asked what % of viewers install an Ad Block?

most browser have the ability to block ads/sites. security and spyware progs use that to block sites, which coincidently also covers most external ad companies.

Or maybe use another search engine for your site. Google's custom search (https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?continue=http://www.google.com/cse/panel/refinements%3Fcx%3D007021807266733736976:dx44m4on0 hg&service=cprose&hl=en&gl=us&passive=true) might be a good choice. Can refine and brand it, and even make money if you want. Their CSE blog here (http://googlecustomsearch.blogspot.com/).

Depends on your audience. If it's technical/IT people, then quite a big percentage will have an ad blocker.
If it's regular Joe Public, not many will block the ads.
