Try changing your screen resolution down to 640x480 (just for the fix, not permanently!)
If it flickers just from that, it'll probably be a refresh rate problem.
Right-click the desktop and click Properties to open the Display properties box.
Select the Settings tab, and click Advanced button.
In the new window that opens, click on the Adaptor tab, and try increasing the refresh rate at the bottom, one at a time, and see if that makes a difference.

Be careful not to go too far, because your monitor may not support a higher refresh rate, and adjusting this can damage your screen. If possible check your monitor manual to see what refresh rates it'll support.

If you go to start -> run, and type dxdiag

Then, select the 'more help' tab, and click the 'override button' This will change the refreshrate directx uses (by default is about 60hz)
