I am with Slingshot too, my speeds go up and down as well. I thought it was just because of the school hols, or the time of day. Above is my current speed.

Are you sure you are not confusing your download and upload speeds. They will be different normally with most ISP plans. I'm with Telecom.

And what's a do-dah? Please define.

Even I can tell the difference between the words, up and down.

A do dah is a unit of upload.

In mega BITS or mega BYTES? maybe giga?

did you get connected to the 2.25tb/s fiber line? 0.85tbps is not something to complain about :D

We're with Vodafone and don't notice any speed change (bar downloading files - 9am will go at 600, 9pm will go at 400-500).

They're good when everything works, just hope that you don't have to ring them up.

Edit: http://www.speedtest.net/result/1258990805.png - bit slower over wireless

with slingshot, rubbish service, rubbish connection. but no one else caters for high use people such as my unemployed flatmates. recommend a telecom dialup connection over it, or reading a book, or making your own internets

To be fair, I am on the periphery, so 5 would do, but .8 ?

Not Telstra Clear Cicero :yuck: I am with the plonkers and get half of your speed, and am closer to an adsl2+ exchange. It could be Telecom's fault for not letting TelstraClear customers through without throttling them at the exchange. I have never been above 2.5 do dahs.

Here's mine

http://www.speedtest.net/result/1260326377.png

I'm on Telstra's cheapest that they don't do any more. Apparently, if I want to use, for example, Slingshot, I have to migrate thru' a Telecom account first (at least that's my recollections of the conversations I had a few months ago). No throttling back tho'!!

If they throttled that back, you wouldn't have been able to post your message. I thought mine was bad!

I can run faster than that.

Poor old J, and I was giving Telsta some thought, you have put paid to that.

Telecom is fine here but there are many factors to consider.

It depends where you are Cis. I'm out in the country, and Telstra have changed their plans since I started on this one some years ago. As I said in the earlier post, when I was looking at "improving things" like you are I rang Actrix etc and it seems they piggyback off Telecom's stuff so I'd have to "connect" to a Telecom account before plumping for a cheaper ISP (or something like that). We've got all our Telephone stuff (line, Tolls) with Telstra which also made a difference to what we pay and the "migration".

Hope that makes sense.

The "best" or "fastest" can really depend a lot on where you are physically located.

Good advice, but in terms of internet speeds it's the opposite, especially when she likes watching music videos etc. on YouTube :p
