Hi all,

I'm looking for a 12"-13" laptop and wanted to know what you guys recommend. My budget is around $2000, but it could stretch to $2200.

I'm liking the Toshiba R700 (http://www.ascent.co.nz/productspecification.aspx?ItemID=392934) (a bit pricey though) or the Asus PRO36SD (http://www.ascent.co.nz/productspecification.aspx?ItemID=395202).

Thanks :)

If I had $2000 to spend that I would get this. (http://configure.ap.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=t510808nz1&c=nz&l=en&s=dhs&cs=nzdhs1&model_id=xps-15) But its a 15" not 12"

R800 is due out very soon, I went to an event the other day where they had the pre production models. They are doing a 13,14,15" model too.

I wanted a small laptop with decent screen my self....ended up with a MacBook Air.

Man the XPS laptops got ugly.

What do you need it for?

Elitebook 2560p will be out soon. That and the Lenovo x220 I'd say are the highest end 12" notebooks available.

Lenovo also has an IPS panel if laptop screen quality is important to you.

Lenovo Thinkpad are v well made. I am onto my 2nd (2nd hand) X series. I also had a P1 and P2 before (380ED and 600E). 380 is the avg series of the Thinkpad lineup and the 600 is like a T series.

They don't cost that much overseas but for some reason NZ is v expensive. Actually the X series is the 2nd most popular model after the T series despite it's view that it's overpriced as it's a corporate ultraportable. The keyboard is fab, I can touch type on it without issues.
