Off the news:

A 30-year-old Feilding man has been arrested and charged with the murder of Scott Guy.

Mr Guy was shot and killed in his driveway in the early hours of the 8th July last year and police have been investigating the case since.

Police spokeswoman Kim Perks said the man was arrested earlier today and charged with murder.

He has also been charged with arson and criminal damage relating to incidents at the Guys' property in October 2008 and January 2009.

He will appear in Palmerston North District Court tomorrow.

A second man, aged 21, was also arrested and charged with arson and criminal damage, but had not been charged in relation to the murder. He has appeared in Otago District Court.

No one else is being sought for the murder or related offences at this time.

Mr Guy's family have been advised of the arrests but the men's names have not yet been released.

Police said neither the Guy family or Scott's wife Kylee wished to make any comment and have asked for privacy to come to terms with the news.

I'm sure it took some hard-yakka police work, we'll see how it pans out in court. Good on 'em.

Sounds like a very thorough investigation, like when they said a few weeks ago that they could not account for about 10 minutes here and there in his entire life and that they had already interviewed his killer

Don't you love the lazy reference to the Otago District Court? Thanks for clearing that up for us SP8s! Bloody useless journalists.

That herald article is very good. I hope they have got the right guy - I can't imagine how horrible this whole drama has been on the family.

Better safe than sorry you reckon? :p

Scott's father new the guy the police have accused - from the sound of those articles, reasonably well. Might not all be as clean cut as we'd like.

[snip]The man accused of murdering Feilding farmer Scott Guy is his brother-in-law Ewen Kerry MacDonald.

Mr Guy was MacDonald's best man and MacDonald was a pallbearer at Mr Guy's funeral.[snip]

Sigh... The murderer IS an ********. It has escaped you that we don't have one yet. This guy is innocent until proven guilty.

I suppose you are just trolling... You really can't be this stupid.

You referring to me or Zippity? I never said anything about his brother in law being guilty, the mere fact he's been accused is pretty mind boggling, but it doesn't necessarily make him an arse hole (yet).

I could be wrong, it happened once before in '72, but I reckon something stinks here.

I think we're going to find the 'innocent' party/s isn't so innocent in all this.

I also find it odd that it took 9 months to finally charge someone that was so close as to be a member of the family.

Either the suspect is incredibly smart, or the evidence is just enough and no more.

But like I said, I could be wrong.

Yes, wait for the trial, nothings known except they think he did it.
Maybe he did, wouldn't be the first time, family members killing each other, but remember such as Arthur Thomas?

Don't be too hard on yourself for that, who would have picked the BaaBaas to get up and win that one?:)
