View Full Version : DeletingRight click Menu Headings

Hello,
Having installed and then uninstalled programs like Webwasher and Copernic, I am left with links on my Right click drop down menus. Does anyone know how to remove them now that they do not link to programs?
Thank you,
Martin

Depends on the OS. Assuming you're running WinMe, or Win98, find, steal, or download 'TweakUI'. This freeware (legend has, written by MicroSoft themselves) will allow you to simply declare what you want to appear in the Right-Click menu.
If you're not on these OS's, then I'd imagine its a registry hack, not simple.

To remove a right click menu item, run regedit (Start / Run / type regedit).

The following 4 keys are where the Righ-Click menu options are stored for folders, directories, and drives. To remove a right-click context menu item, delete any of the sub-keys that are below these keys.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHan dlers

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shellex\ContextMenuHandle rs

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shellex\ContextMenuHandler s

The registry cleaner in
Ashampoo WinOptimizer 2000
from http://www.ashampoo.com/
should do it. It picks up a lot of errors that RegEdit doesn't find.

Good Luck
