You will all have seen that the rubble from Quake was being dumped in Littleton Harbour, good idea, are there is a shortage of flat land on wharf area.

But no, the Greene's pointed out that there wasn't a resource consent, so they have had to stop.

Dyson, she of the Bradford ilk say, they can dump it elsewhere till they get a consent, how much extra will that cost, no problem to our socialist friends.

Why doesn't fatty bypass the red tape.?

This is one the reason that NZ will never progress. Too much busy bodies and red tape these days..

What if the rubble contained oil, toxic chemicals, sewage, and bits of crushed loved ones...?

That's why they wanted it in the harbour rather than making a rockery in Hagley park. Lyttleton is somewhere foreign to Chch, as is the rest of the world.

(Unless some foreigner says that Lyttleton is foreign, then it gets "most favoured wayward son" status.)

If the rubble contains oil, toxic chemicals, etc, then sure, it needs to be sorted out first, but even siting on land they will still seep into the ground - things aren't exactly going to move fast in a resolution.

And as nasty as it sounds - if human remains are there, either they would rot, or nature (birds, rats etc) will remove them.

We are talking suitable rubble, not contaminated.

Do give us a bit of credit!
