I am running Win7 on my desktop.

For some reason that I can't find an answer to, both the red and green indicator lights on the body of the desktop are remaining on even after a cold reboot.

There doesn't seem to be any jobs running and I am wondering why this is happening. Anyone got any ponters or suggestons please?

Green is usually power and red is usually hard drive activity

How long has the red one been constantly on?

Just noticed today. Over the last three days though, when I turn the system on, one of the drives clicks as though the drive heads are searching for data. I can't work out which drive but I suspect it might be the DVD drive.

Hum. SATA controler gone nuts? Or more likely a faulty hard drive by the sounds of it.

My system is on IDE but I do have a SATA as well.

To test, do I close down, pull the SATA cable and restart?

Then the PATA controler gone nuts. :)

But it's most likely the hard drive is on the way out, if it clicking is coming from the hard drive that'd be it. Not much you can do about it other than getting a new HDD.
