Just wondering what people recommend in the way of spyware removal tools. And what programs are likely to get screwed up by the removal of their spyware.

Cheers

I think the PCWorld cover disk hada removal tool at one time, cannot recall the program though. I have used a program called optout but it was date limited. If you do a search on the net for optout, that should lead you to the authors site which has other tools available for removal of spyware, etc

Ad-ware from Lavasoft does the job. It's also free!!

adaware5.6 www.lavasoftusa.com

comman programs that can be disabled include.......gozilla,imesh,kazaa ver's 1.3.1-1.3.3

if for some strange reasons you want to keep the spyware simply don't remove that apps spyware system. adaware default setup is for manaual clean rather than remove automatically.

one tip- reboot and rerun adaware, there are some spyware that will reinstall on reboot. you will then have to track down the 'installer'.
there are exceptions such as eudora free(not spyware)which has its add cashe remade.
