Hi all. Looking at getting a WRT54GL for daughter's flat so that I can put Gargoyle or similar "limiting / distribution" software to six flatmates.

Question: Have a friend coming back from China in a week or so and would like to know whether it can be "converted" to English ?? .... I'm assuming that if it is purchased in China for the domestic market it will have Chinese language as default. Not worried about voltage adapters as I have a draw full of them.

Question: Is there anything comparable to or better quality than the above WRT54GL ?? ... Again, must be able to have Gargoyle or similar software capability.

TIA .. Dave.

I think WRT54GL is a router only.
You'll prolly need one of these too.

This may be helpful with your third-party software adventures

Dunno about the default language thing, get a chinese guy to set it to english before your friend departs there?

fee ... you're quite right and my mistake. Don't suppose you know whether a Netcomm NB6Plus4Wn can be configured to what I'm after ??

I think you can only apply third-party/Linux firmware to selected models of routers (only), and not to modem/routers, but I'm not certain. Perhaps someone who knows more can assist?
